Marian Audrey Mattice was born in Schenectady, NY on June 28, 1956. She was the eldest daughter of George Anthony Anderson (a blue collar large motor/generator assembler at the General Electric Plant) and Evelyn Elizabeth (Graham) Anderson ( a book-keeper/receptionist). Her younger sister, Claire Louise Anderson, was born 2 years later. Both sisters had a very close and loving relationship and were raised in the suburban area of Schenectady, NY known as Rotterdam. Both girls completed High School and graduated successfully with college prep coursework. They became first generation college graduates, with Marian attending Geneseo State University for Elementary and Special Education and Claire attending Brockport State University for Nursing. Upon their respective graduations, they entered the work force in their chosen fields of study. Marian accepted a position on the teaching staff of the Downsville Central School District in the Downsville Central School District in the Catskill Mountains of NY, completing a 33 year career from which she retired in 2011. She still owns and maintains a cottage in the school district where she taught. It is located on the West Branch of the Delaware River in a hamlet known as Shinhopple. This is a weekend/ vacation relaxation and writing retreat for her, as well as an occasional Airbnb rental property. After her retirement, she continued to work as a Substitute Teacher in the Oneonta area where her husband, Kenneth Keith Mattice had a home. They currently reside in Oneonta,NY in a big old farmhouse where they enjoy the company of 3 Papillon dogs, 1 Devon Rex cat, as well as a large flock of chickens. After her retirement, from public school education, Marian continued to find gainful employment as a substitute teacher and rewarding private educational positions as a Catskill Regional Teacher Center Associate Director in Oneonta, NY; a Curriculum Coordinator/ Enrichment Teacher and subsequently a Pre-K through Grade 1 Classroom Teacher at The Brookwood School in Cooperstown, NY; a tour guide/ presenter at the Fenimore Art Museum and Farmer’s Museum in Cooperstown, NY; a morning First Grade/ afternoon Second Grade Secular Studies Teacher at Maimonides Hebrew Day School in Albany, NY; and a Home Schooling Teacher and Afterschool Tutor in commuting distance of her home in Oneonta, NY. She is a retired member of NYSUIT (Teacher’s Union), has a LinkedIn account, and a Facebook account.
